Further you can add more functions to block php shell scripts –

disable_functions = system,passthru,readfile,escapeshellarg,escapeshellcmd,proc_close,
proc_open,ini_alter,dl,popen,show_source

Mysqldump

simple cron will do –

0 11 * * * /usr/local/bin/mysqldump -u[username] -p[password] [database] > /home/user/public_html/database`date`.sql
